Take a look at the map of the city of Ulan-Ude and its surroundings, you will see a lot of interesting things. For example, the territory in the triangle between the villages of Zabaikalsky, Nikolaevsky and Mount Sinyaya Sayantuyskaya has unique objects. In particular, this is a huge complex of rock outcrops. You can also find a quiet stream here or see your reflection in the mirror of a hidden lake.

And if you get here, you will see that around you there are magnificent rock outcrops of the most varied and amazing shapes, reaching ten or more meters in height. You will not find the same ones here, because over the millennia nature has not spared imagination and ingenuity, polishing every cliff, every rock with water and wind, decorating them at the same time with multi-colored lichens. Here in front of you rises a grandiose triumphal arch. And opposite the arch…

What fantastic ruins of palaces, what fabulous dragons! You can’t see them all in one day; you have to look at them from different angles, and even photograph them. They stretch for ten kilometers. And having climbed to any of the peaks, you will want to sit and look from above at the magnificent panorama of mountains and forests.

You will certainly understand the greatness and harsh beauty of our native Siberian nature. And you will also understand that there is no need to look for it thousands of kilometers away. Nordic walking instructors Vera Lubsanova and Vitaly Glushko have already laid out weekend routes here. At the beginning of March, on the initiative of Vitaly, an ascent to Mount Sinyaya Sayantuyskaya, 1,290 meters above sea level, took place; 11 people took part.

The climbers were satisfied. Unfortunately, one or two days will not be enough for the trip. But even in this case, you will return home with such impressions as if you had been somewhere very far away, in a fabulous, previously unknown country, and you will definitely want to sing the popular song: “… I don’t need the Turkish coast…”.

The villages of Nikolaevsky and Zabaikalsky, where the journey begins, can be reached by public transport. So — let’s go!
