I’ve been working on the dacha for a long time. But my special pride is the bathhouse I built at the dacha with my own hands. Every time my gaze is caressed by hand-processed and neatly laid logs polished by wind and rain. Many of my friends who visited the dacha remember the bathhouse with delight.
As you know, a bathhouse begins with a broom. We give preference to a birch broom; there are no trifles in preparation and steaming. In ancient times in Rus’, a broom was prepared after Peter’s Day. By this time, the birch leaf is gaining strength, which allows its repeated use in the bathhouse.
The harvesting of brooms itself, in addition to the timing, also requires the choice of a harvesting location; as a rule, there should be a flat, light area of birch forest. Try to cut branches from the east side — the leaves on them are always stronger. When cutting branches, do not cut them right down to the trunk. This will only add more work to you and make the broom heavy and stiff.
It is advisable to store finished brooms in a suspended state, if possible in the attic. My great friend Stanislav usually gives a kind of master class at the dacha, for example, useful advice. It is advisable to immerse the broom in cold water for 1–2 hours before going to the bathhouse. The leaf becomes soft and does not cook when steamed in hot water.
A few more words about bath procedures. For greater effect, we recommend that when you first enter the steam room, wash your body with warm water and wipe dry. On the shelf in the steam room, be in the thermal comfort zone. After the first entry, you should sprinkle your body with fine sea salt in the dressing room, adding one drop of iodine for every 100 grams of salt, and repeat entering the steam room.
Upon leaving the steam room, without rinsing your body, sprinkle yourself again with salt moistened with ordinary table vinegar (9%) and enter the steam room again. Salt acidified with vinegar easily penetrates the skin, and as a result of heating, up to two liters of decomposition products leave the body. This time, when leaving the steam room, wash your body with water and rest. After rest, continue with your usual procedures, based on your established habits.
So, away with the accumulated problems, friends. Have a nice day.
