Born on Sakhalin in a fishing village, Vladimir Alexandrovich carried his love for nature throughout his life. His path to big tourism began in 1972. He didn’t just go hiking, he created: with his participation in Buryatenergo, the famous tourist club “Vertical” was born, and from 1977 to 1993 he permanently headed the Republican Federation of Amateur Tourism.
Recognition: In 1987, he was awarded the sign “For active work in the development of tourism and excursions in the RSFSR.” But the main reward was people's love - he was known as a charismatic author and host of the TV show “Tourist Club Khamar-Daban”.
“The more difficult the path, the stronger the feeling of life”
This phrase became the motto of Vladimir Alexandrovich. His book, published by his family in 2020, is not just a collection of routes, but a legacy that he has carefully collected since the mid-90s.
In the book and in life, he shared his most secret things:
- Practical wisdom: The essays “Is it so easy to light a fire”, “Get lost in the taiga” and “Meeting a bear” are the quintessence of the taiga experience, seasoned with the author’s subtle humor.
- Strengthening the spirit: Vladimir Alexandrovich was a adherent of strict discipline - even in the most severe campaigns, he began the morning with “exercises until he sweated.” His walking pace was legendary: even experienced masters could barely keep up with him.
- Love for details: From family heirlooms, like his father’s “Start” watch, to his own built bathhouse at the dacha, he valued reliability and honesty in everything.
Legacy and memory
Vladimir Nevsky believed that tourism is the best way to educate the soul. He traveled a lot throughout the country and abroad (including a memorable cruise in the Baltic for his silver wedding), but his heart always remained in the Sayan Mountains and Khamar-Daban.
Today his life's work lives on. Based on his personal archives, diaries and camping equipment, the Museum of the History of the Development of Amateur Tourism in Buryatia is being created so that new generations can just as confidently take their first step towards the horizon.
